First opened in the 1860’s, the Ba-ta-clan is one of Paris’ most iconic and long-running dance halls. Dance hall and cabaret posters are incredibly collectible, as they tend to have splashy, glittery, and sexy imagery. However, it’s their history that captures many people the most. The Ba-ta-clan originally opened as a theater featuring acrobatics, operettes, and vaudeville acts amongst other rousing performances. Some of the world’s most famous entertainers such as Josephine Baker, Maurice Chevallier, and Buffalo Bill took the stage at the Ba-ta-clan before being turned into a cinema in the 1920’s. Today, it has been resurrected back into a live music venue where artists such as Prince, Jeff Buckley, and Kanye West have headlined.
