This classic Art Deco piece from the early 1920’s brings a cool, clean, and masculine look to any bar or lounge area. Design-wise, this piece is fantastic for creating the element of space as the line of bottles continues onward to what seems like an eternity. The intricacies of the bottles and the playful inlay of the text add extra elements in an image that otherwise easily could have fallen flat. Aside from the great design of this piece, it also harbors a fun piece of history most people won’t initially catch: ‘Anis del Tigre’ (“Anis of the Tiger”) was a major brand of liqueur in Spain at the time, rivaled by another brand called ‘Anis del Mono’ (“Anis of the Monkey”). Notice the little detailing on the bottle labels? A cheeky tiger pouncing on a helpless monkey. It wasn’t until the Cola War of the 1980’s that business law started to regulate these types of mutually-targeting advertising campaigns.
